Mission Statement

We shelter animals in need and secure permanent homes for adoptable pets. We provide practical and educational resources to the public to advance the highest standards of animal care and help keep pets in their homes. We strive for a community in which all animals are treated with compassion and respect.

About This Cause

Dutchess County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DCSPCA) was founded in 1871 to protect domestic animals from abuse and neglect and to provide shelter for stray and homeless companion animals. Since then, our mission has expanded to finding permanent, loving homes for the animals that come through our doors and to providing education, advocacy, and emergency assistance to the local community so pets can stay in their homes. DCSPCA works closely with the Dutchess County Sheriff's office, human service organizations, police departments, and the district attorney's office to rescue abused animals and ensure the abuser is prosecuted. DCSPCA is NOT affiliated with the ASPCA. DCSPCA is an independent, registered 501(c)3 charity.
