Mission Statement
Angel Food East assists our neighbors in need by bringing nutritious, delicious food and friendship to their doors. Angel Food East often fills the gap, serving those who do not quality for assistance or may need some help for a short period of time.
About This Cause
Since 1992, Angel Food East has delivered nutritious, home cooked meals to members of the Ulster County community who are unable to provide for themselves. Angel Food East is a significant part of Ulster County’s social safety net providing meals to people who do not qualify for government programs, as well as working with clients to secure governmental support whenever possible. In the beginning, Angel Food provided meals to people living with HIV+/AIDS, however in the last few years we have expanded our services to include others in our community who are chronically homebound for a variety of reasons. As our client base has expanded, we have stayed true to our original mission: to help, care for, and connect to our community. With the help of our dedicated and hard working volunteers, Angel Food East cooks and delivers close to 350 meals every week for more than 65 clients in Ulster County. Operating out of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kingston, our volunteers shop for fresh ingredients, chop vegetables, cook healthy and delicious meals, scrub dishes, and knock on doors with home-cooked nutritious meals in hand.
