Rise Against Hunger is growing a global movement to end hunger by nourishing lives, empowering communities and responding to emergencies.
About This Cause
Driven by the vision of a world without hunger, Rise Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organization, works to address hunger by targeting remote, last-mile communities within hunger pockets designated "serious" or higher by the Global Hunger Index. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization's State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2023 report, as many as 783 million people, accounting for almost 10 percent of the world’s population, face hunger. Additionally, while rates of hunger decreased in Asia and Latin America last year, hunger increased in Western Asia, the Caribbean and all subregions of Africa, leaving the global rate of hunger relatively unchanged from 2021 to 2022. Rise Against Hunger works with local leaders to harness the strengths of their communities and tackle their own food and nutrition security challenges. We strive to make an impact on hunger by building resilience, self-sufficiency and empowerment in communities worldwide. Through our four Pathways to End Hunger (Nourishing Lives, Empowering Communities, Responding to Emergencies and Growing the Movement), we work to alleviate poverty, support education, and promote health and nutrition to build resilient and thriving communities. We provide both immediate nourishment for those in need today and implement sustainable solutions that will empower entire communities for years to come. Rise Against Hunger directly supports U.N. Sustainable Development Goal #2: Zero Hunger. Zero Hunger is essential to reaching all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Proper nutrition can improve maternal health, support a child’s academic performance, promote poverty reduction and play a role in responsible consumption and production. Rise Against Hunger works to end hunger in communities across the world, and you can be part of the solution!
