Mission Statement
The Korean American Community Foundation (KACF) transforms and empowers communities through philanthropy, volunteerism and inter-community bridge building. KACF pursues these goals through grantmaking that promotes self-sufficiency for the underserved and under-resourced, through raising awareness of needs and issues, and by fostering a culture of giving.
About This Cause
KACF provides grants and capacity-building assistance to organizations working to address the most pressing needs in the Korean American community and beyond. We foster philanthropic giving among Korean Americans, the general public, corporations and foundations by providing our supporters with an effective vehicle to magnify the impact of their giving and to build bridges across generations and communities. Through grantmaking, KACF aims to help individuals and families in the Korean American and the broader communities to move towards self-sufficiency. To achieve our goal, KACF prioritizes programs that: - Guide individuals towards sustained economic security through adult education, job training/placement, benefits counseling and comprehensive support services - Encourage social, emotional and physical health by focusing on community education and outreach and direct services - Empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking to achieve emotional and physical safety as well as create awareness of these issues and change behaviors - Foster a sense of independence and self-sufficiency among seniors through a combination of benefits counseling, ESL program and group activities to promote social-emotional and physical well-being - Promote healthy decision-making and a sense of empowerment to young people by recognizing them as assets in the community In addition to grantmaking, KACF also engages in Inter-Community Development work to promote dialogue and collaboration among different ethnic groups to build a stronger community for citizens.
