Mission Statement
Q Center's mission is to provide resources, programs and safe spaces to support and celebrate LGBTQ diversity, equity, visibility and community building. Today, Q Center is where the totality of life’s experiences can be shared, learned, taught and examined. It is a place where everyone is welcome to create and explore ideas and sense of self while strengthening the ever changing and evolving LGBTQ community.
About This Cause
Founded in 2003, Q Center is the only dedicated LGBTQIA+ community center north of San Francisco. It provides a safe space to support and celebrate LGBTQIA+(lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, ally, and beyond) diversity, equity, visibility, and community building. A convener and community hub, Q Center connects LGBTQIA+ community members and organizations with resources that foster mutual recognition, belonging, and resiliency. Our staff, board, and volunteers are invested in making lasting impacts in the lives of everyone we serve, and creating valuable bonds with one another. Q Center by the Numbers: ● 1,300+ visits per month/15,000+ per year ● 3 full-time & 1 part-time staff ● 5 LGBTQ organizations rent office space ● 31 weekly front-desk volunteers ● 100+ annual volunteers ● 2000+ lbs of food collected for Esther’s Pantry ● 1000+ pieces of clothing collected for various local nonprofits ● Over $20,000 a year provided in free space to groups and nonprofits who can’t afford to pay for space.
