Mission Statement
Whispering Seed is a Myanmar based charitable organization focusing on the empowerment of youth and local communities by focusing on bridging sustainability and holistic education through our Living & Learning Centres. We are a US registered 501 C3, tax-exempt charitable organization striving to bridge the traditions of sustainability and holistic education through innovative programs, trainings and design, drawing on the richness of local wisdom and traditional cultures along with renewed, socially appropriate models. We have been working in Myanmar and Thailand since 2004.
About This Cause
Whispering Seed has three main projects in Myanmar; *Sprouting Seeds Cafe, Bakery & Eco Shop Training Centre *Whispering Earth Living & Learning Sustainability Training Centre *Holistic Education Teacher Trainings Sprouting Seeds Learning Centre is a training centre and Café, Bakery, Eco Shop and Yoga Studio providing skills training for local youth in; cafe, bakery, natural products, social enterprise, organic farming, sustainability, English language, computer skills, yoga, trekking and mountain bike guides and much more. Our focus is on local empowerment through healthy living, wellness & sustainability. We provide a diverse range of practical life-skills training for Myanmar youth (focused primarily for girls from remote areas and ethnic backgrounds), which are rooted in principles of sustainability, preservation of traditional wisdom, and positive social engagement with a focus on youth and woman's empowerment as well as self-awareness. Whispering Earth Training Centre provides capacity building, skills training & hands-on life long learning focusing on Natural building (earth & bamboo), organic farming, Permaculture, appropriate technology, seed saving and simple living. Situated on 8 acres in a rural village, our new centre will focus on capacity buildings and skills training in; sustainability, organic farming and Permaculture. We will host our Teacher Trainings at the farm as well as community based retreats and yoga trainings. We will provide youth empowerment trainings & camps with plans to start a holistic primary school for local youth. Holistic Teacher Training partners with a network of over 2,000 Buddhist monastic schools & ethnic Kachin teachers we provide support, counseling & consultancy in holistic education, early childhood development, curriculum design and natural parenting. We also provide practical life skills training to our teachers, students and community members which include; natural house building (bamboo & earth), soap & shampoo making, natural farming, yoga for trauma healing, healthy living, solar food drying and more.
