FMA believes every teen should have an opportunity to achieve their goals and contribute to society. This is achieved through a collaboration of professional organizations focused on an innovative Thinking Instructional Methodology integrated with Personal Finance, Career and Postsecondary Education Training.
About This Cause
Perhaps you have observed that although our current economy may appear strong, recent data is bleak. The US is experiencing increasing consumer and student debt, underemployment of college graduates, inadequate Social Security, and Medicare funding, high percentage of wages allocated to health and childcare which makes saving for the future virtually impossible, decline of corporate benefits and rise on the independent contractor, working without benefits, increasing college drop out rates, jobs requiring thinking and decision making go unfilled and secondary and post-secondary education appear unable to graduate students who are career and college ready. These economic challenges point to the fact that the US is at a socio-economic tipping point. If you believe that this is an accurate representation of expected outcomes, join FMA on a road less traveled with a mission of changing the trajectory for all lower and middle-income young adults. FMA works in a strategic collaborative partnership to achieve socio-economic transformation. Decker & Associates, a social impact enterprise, works with young adults in creative, outcome-driven Texas Education Agency approved, blended online Real Life math and social study curriculums. In the curriculum, students understand the importance of accepting responsibility NOW for their future and develop a ten-year plan for obtaining advanced education, thinking employment and a self-sufficient standard of living - one that does not expect the government to solve their problems. Their life plans integrate financial, career, postsecondary education with an innovative Thinking Instructional Methodology (TIM) which challenges them to problem-solve, work in teams, communicate, accept responsibility and achieve a future desired life and self-sufficient standard of living. FMA supports the course by coordinating the resources of the collaborative to achieve a program with measured outcomes. Texas is the first state to offer this empowering, engaging course. If outcomes prove transformational, FMA strategy is to replicate the program nationally.
