Mission Statement
SOFKIN’s mission is to “Support the upbringing of under privileged children, irrespective of name or nationality, caste or creed, race or religion by providing basic amenities, education and medical aid in a secure and healthy environment. We strive to support the fundamental rights of children as laid out by the United Nations charter on Children. the right to survival, health, nutrition the right to development, education and recreation the right to protection from exploitation, abuse and neglect the right to participation, expression, and religion
About This Cause
Support Organization for Kids In Need ( SOFKIN) was registered as a 501(c3) tax exempt non profit organization in the state of New jersey in June 2004. Through our objectives below we thrive to uphold the rigths of under privileged children across the globe. 1. Build safe and secure homes for orphans, destitute and under privileged children and to extend support to other global and local organizations undertaking similar activities across the world. The members and trustees make periodic visits to the affiliates to ensure that they meet the requirements and maintain the standards and to ensure that the funds are used in the best available manner. The board of directors of SOFKIN takes extreme care and caution in evaluating the projects proposed to be supported. We are supporting more than 40 kids spread over three such homes based in Pune and Hyderabad in India. 2. To feed , shelter and educate underprivileged kids and enabling them to become self respecting members of the society and to help create a healthy and a safe environment for the kids. The endeavor is to try and make a little difference in the lives of at least a few unfortunate and underprivileged children of the world. 3. To provide financial support to children needing medical aid , including but not limited to surgeries and providing equipment deemed necessary to carry out normal functions such as providing hearing aids and speech therapy .We take care to ensure that the beneficiaries are chosen after a careful need based home study 4. To rehabilitate destitute women and widows by providing them opportunity and employing them as house mothers to care for the kids. 5. To organize various types of fund raising events to support the above activities 6. To solicit funds from organizations and general public in various forms to support the above mentioned activities. SOFKIN is currently extending help to nearly 100 children and ten women in three such homes in India. SOFKIN also works closely with local US organizations such as Gender Reconciliation International ( GRI) ;, The Trenton Soup kitchen,Hands creating change etc.. to further its objectives
