Mission Statement

Yeshiva Torat Emet is dedicated to instilling Torah values and positive character traits within its students. We are committed to helping each child reach his/her potential, and we encourage close cooperation between home and school. Yeshiva Torat Emet prides itself on excellence in both Judaic and secular instruction. The students gain a love of Torah, as well as an excitement and interest in all Judaic aspects of life. In addition, we focus on Sephardic tradition, with an emphasis on Hebrew language.

About This Cause

Sephardic Gan (also known as Yeshiva Torat Emet, or YTE), is an Orthodox Jewish Day School in Houston, TX, founded in 2004. We serve students from age 15 months through 8th grade, and our enrollment is growing every year. We currently have over 420 students enrolled. At Yeshiva Torat Emet, Judaic and General studies realms are successfully blended. Each academic division offers educational opportunities and an outstanding team of experienced teachers. The students develop a positive Jewish identity as well as the social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills that are the foundation for future academic and social success. We aim to create the next generation of Jewish leaders. Another impressive quality of YTE is that every teacher and the administration recognizes and respects differences in abilities, interests, and the rate of development of individual students. The school participates in inclusion activities and provides additional support for students with learning differences. YTE offers a balance of individual and group activities, indoor and outdoor venues, and teacher-selected as well as student-elected activities. Whether the students are praying, learning, writing, or working on a project as a team, the atmosphere is relaxed, happy, accepting and loving. Students are also taught values of honesty and integrity. The Parsha (weekly Torah Portion) is studied and discussed. This provides a framework for learning about moral and ethical behavior, such as acts of kindness and how to judge others favorably. The children learn about our forefathers, and what they, as Jewish children, should seek to emulate. YTE organizes communal charity projects, and students are encouraged to “give back” to the community and to help others who are less fortunate. Students at YTE have participated in toy drives, bike-a-thons for children with cancer, and buying food for poor families before major Jewish holidays. In 2011, YTE earned accreditation from the Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Since 1986, TAAPS has been setting the standards for excellence in Texas education, and its primary mission seeks to accredit private schools who meet the standards of the association and continue to maintain the quality of education as expected by TAAPS.
