Mission Statement
Youth & Family Services Foundation supports the mission and values of Youth & Family Services, Inc. (YFS). YFS originally began in 1965. Their mission is to support children and their families in being capable, caring and contributing members of the community. The vision of Youth & Family Services is that children in western South Dakota will develop healthy bodies, inquiring minds, wholesome relationships, compassionate hearts, creative spirits, the conviction to stand up for themselves and others, and the courage to build a better society.
About This Cause
Youth & Family Services (YFS) serves low-income children and their families with programs promotion child development and family self-sufficiency. YFS has been serving children and their families since 1965 and has grown to be one of the largest, most comprehensive youth development programs, offering services to more than 14,000 children, ages 0-18 years and their families, through its centers in Rapid City and outreach programs in 29 counties in western South Dakota. Contributing to this success are: the solid reputation that YFS maintains in the community as an organization that provides high quality services to children, youth and families; the strong community ties and trusting relationships that YFS has established with schools, law enforcement, health care providers, service providers, local businesses, other youth serving organizations and other non-profit agencies; a diverse and experienced Board of Directors with a broad community picture; qualified, experienced and talented staff; comprehensive and wrap-around services through our nine pograms; and trusting relationships between YFS staff and the children and families they serve. YFS maintains a deep understanding of the needs and the challenges that children and families face in our community.
