About This Cause
United for Human Rights (UHR) with its youth component Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization headquartered in Los Angeles, with over 150 groups, clubs and chapters around the world. We are dedicated to making human rights a fact. United for Human Rights educational materials are translated to 27 languages and include an award-winning film, The Story of Human Rights and its companion booklet; public service announcements, one on each of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; and a full curriculum of lessons for use by educators, human rights organizations and anyone teaching human rights to youth in schools and communities. United for Human Rights carry out programs that effectively raise popular awareness of human rights and teach them to youth and adults, reaching more than 100 million each year. To that end, the United for Human Rights public service announcements and The Story of Human Rights educational film air on over 1,300 television stations in dozens of countries each year. To date, more than 1.7 million students have been empowered with human rights education with the Youth for Human Rights curriculum in 50,000 schools worldwide. Further, partnerships to foster human rights have been forged with nearly 1,500 organizations and government agencies in 92 countries. Through these partnerships, human rights organizations and government bodies have been supported in their mission to improve the well-being for local, regional and national populations. All told, thousands of organizations and governments have joined forces with Youth for Human Rights, helping to educate tens of millions across over 190 countries.
