Mission Statement
Docs In Progress believes everyone has a story. Documentary educates, inspires, and transforms the way people view their world. These films and filmmakers call attention to moments in history by sharing highly personal stories that reflect social and cultural issues found on the local, national and global stage.
About This Cause
By developing, encouraging, and celebrating new and diverse voices, Docs In Progress fosters a supportive community for documentary filmmakers of all ages and expertise and for documentary film lovers. We serve these communities his by offering an array of tools, workshops, public programs, and artist services. Programs and services include: * Workshops, seminars, panels, and consultations, focused on enhancing and improving the art, craft, technical skills, business acumen, and professional development of documentary filmmakers at all experience levels and stages of the filmmaking process. * Sscreenings of unfinished documentaries to give filmmakers a chance to received constructive feedback from audiences in a nurturing, moderated workshop setting and the public a better understanding of the creative process. * Programs and space which nurture a vibrant and dynamic documentary community, including networking events, a fiscal sponsorship program, online resources, and peer-centered support networks such as the Fellowship, and the Documentary Roundtable. * Screenings and discussion groups of documentary films which help enhance public appreciation for the documentary art form. * A Young Artists Program that includes summer teen workshops and a school-year intergenerational film program, Village Reels. * Opportunities to involve the broader community by building the capacity of nonprofit organizations to better tell their stories through documentary-style video.
