Mission Statement

Phil's Friends provides hope and support to those affected by cancer.

About This Cause

Founded in 2006 by two-time cancer survivor Phil Zielke, Phil's Friends provides hope and support to those affected by cancer. The organization reaches out in three ways: 1. Care Packages - Phil's Friends sends Care Packages free of charge to anyone in the United States affected by cancer. These care packages are hand packed by volunteers in our Hope Centers in Roselle, Illinois and Crown Point. Indiana and are distributed in two ways: by being shipped across the United States and through hand deliveries through our Hope to Hospitals Program. Each package contains uplifting, comforting, and personal care items that are hand selected by others that have journeyed through cancer. 2. Cards of Hope - Once an individual received a Care Package from Phil's Friends, they have the option to be added to the Cards of Hope Program. Through this program they receive continuous cards that are colored by volunteers of all ages in our Hope Centers. These cards remind the patients that they are not alone in their journey and provide a light in the midst of a dark journey. 3. Hope to Hospitals Program - Every week trained Hope to Hospitals volunteers conduct visits at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Rush University Medical, and University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. During these visits, these volunteers meet the cancer patient right where they are in their journey, delivering care packages right to their hospital beds.
