Mission Statement
The Little Saint Nick Foundation (LSNF) is an international nonprofit located in the U.S.A & Canada. The LSNF mission is to create a positive mentality for kids in crisis through the compassionate power of a helping hand. We deliver smiles to these kids by connecting them with kids in local communities that are inspired to give back. Through our promise of “Kids Inspiring and Helping Kids,” the Little Saint Nick Foundation strives to lift kids up and realize their full potential.
About This Cause
The Little Saint Nick Foundation (LSNF) was founded in 2004 by Raymond Mohler, Jr., who—at just six years old—turned his personal experience with a rare childhood hip disorder into a lifelong mission: to bring comfort and smiles to kids in hospitals. After being scared in the hospital himself and finally recovering from Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease, Ray felt a calling to help other children facing that same fear entering hospitals. What began as one child's act of kindness has grown into a national movement rooted in the simple yet powerful idea of kids inspiring and helping kids. Our flagship program provides anti-anxiety gift bags to pediatric patients the moment they enter the emergency room or are admitted to the hospital. Each gift bag includes comforting items like a coloring book, crayons, pop-its, a stuffed animal, and a handmade get-well card—crafted by one child, for another. This immediate gesture helps reduce fear and anxiety in young patients, sets a more positive tone for their hospital experience, and sparks a ripple effect of compassion throughout their families, hospital staff, and the community. To date, we’ve delivered over 140,000 gift bags to children in hospitals across the U.S., including Cohen Children’s Medical Center (NY), South Oaks Hospital (NY), NY Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital (NY), and Mease Countryside Hospital (FL). Our impact goes far beyond the patients—our work has helped hospitals improve caregiver experience, boost employee morale, and raise patient satisfaction scores. Families leave the hospital not only feeling cared for—but inspired. And that’s just half the story. Behind every gift bag is a volunteer—a student, a scout, a child who wants to help others. Our community packing events empower young people to make a real difference. They learn the value of empathy and service while assembling gift bags and writing heartfelt cards. These moments create young leaders who understand that giving is just as powerful as receiving. With the support of businesses, hospitals, schools, and youth organizations, we host events year-round that engage communities at every level. Every $10 donation covers the cost of one gift bag and empowers one young volunteer to take part in this meaningful exchange. We are proud to maintain long-term, two-way partnerships with hospitals and community groups. Our mission is sustainable, scalable, and deeply rooted in local impact.
