About This Cause

The organization was formed by the Cambodia Town Initiative Task Force to continue its efforts for Cambodians. It incorporated in 2005 as a 501(c)3 and has been one of the leading organizations to advocate for the Cambodian community. CT achieves these and many other goals with a small, but dedicated volunteer board and Advisory Council. It has no paid staff. It is recognized as one of the chief architects of to accomplish goals to help the Cambodian community in Long Beach as well as other communities in the U.S. Included among its many achievements are the designation of Cambodia Town in Long Beach, production of an annual parade and culture festival, installation of CT freeway signs on the 710 and street signs to mark the boundaries, and CT Relief fund distribution in May 2020 after anti-API vandalism to businesses on Anaheim St. Currently, CT is active on the plans for a gateway to mark Cambodia Town on Anaheim St. and other beautification projects to improve the Anaheim Corridor and in preparation for the Olympics as well as part of the planning for the Cambodian Cultural Center. Through grants, CT has provided anti-API programs including Stop The Hate self-defense classes and funding for a Khmer Language Access program. It strives to respond to the needs of the Cambodian community from helping businesses apply for government funding to referrals and resources to Cambodians especially monolingual older adults for support and services.
