About This Cause

1. We have the lowest fundraising costs of comparable groups 2. We are based in Milwaukee, WI with very low overhead costs 3. We never employ fundraising staff, telemarketers or outside fundraising groups–we are all about the programs we offer 4. Your money will go DIRECTLY to offering scholarships to students who could not afford GYLI GYLI engages students in 8th-12th grade, as well as teachers and educators to grow leaders who wish to learn and exemplify the best practices of the four pillars. We partner with schools around the world, including public, private, and religious institutions. Specializing in age-appropriate curricula to foster leadership since the Institute’s launch, GYLI strong track record of over 50 programs delivered to middle and high school students and educators since 2002. We have developed our own leadership curriculum that is 160 pages of models, readings, simulations and activities. This curriculum is well aligned with engagement research on SEL by CASEL, Gallup Education and others who have shown us repeatedly over many years of research that the two key indicators of success in 9-12 and Higher Education are hope and engagement. Recognizing both society’s opportunities for leaders and the need for appealing programs to attract high school students and teachers: • GYLI High School Sequence (2002-2020) • Year 1 (Rising 10th Graders) ”Sailing in the Wake of our Ancestors” crewing for five days aboard a Tall Ship in Connecticut or California • Year 2 (Rising 11th Graders) “Developing your Personal Leadership Vision” studying six days at a mountain retreat center in New Mexico • Year 3 (Rising 12th Graders) “Models of Environmental Sustainability and World Food Systems” exploring 11 days at Environmental University (EARTH) in Costa Rica • Custom full class programs for 8th-12th grade students in Wisconsin, Illinois, New Mexico, Colorado, and Costa Rica (2011-2020) • Educator Field Experiences in Costa Rica and Dominican Republic (2011-2020)
