Mission Statement
Our mission is to support the education of poor and underprivileged children in India, ensuring that every child, regardless of socio-economic background, has the opportunity to succeed. We believe that every child deserves the chance to enjoy their childhood and receive a quality education that will set the foundation for a successful future. We aim to provide these children with access to basic education and resources that can help them overcome the barriers they face due to their circumstances. By focusing on both their educational needs and their overall well-being, we strive to create an environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive. Our ultimate goal is to empower these children to reach their full potential, allowing them to break free from the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
About This Cause
Goals of UPMA Supporting and Enhancing Anganwadi Centers Across Uttar Pradesh Uttar Pradesh Mandal of America (UPMA) is working with the UP government to support and enhance Anganwadi centers across the state. Anganwadi centers serve as rural childcare centers in India, providing non-formal preschool education, basic nutrition, and health education. With nearly 106,128 Anganwadi centers in UP, UPMA's goal is to further enhance these services by providing nutritious food, improved educational materials, school bags, shoes, sweaters, and more for the children. UPMA also aims to connect with poor villagers and parents through these centers, offering additional support to families through various initiatives. For example, UPMA recently donated thousands of blankets to all families of UPMA's daycare centers and students. Currently, UPMA is operating ten daycare centers and funding the education of underprivileged children in India. During the COVID-19 pandemic, UPMA provided financial aid, food, oxygen concentrators, oximeters, and more, spending thousands of dollars to support those in need. The Anganwadi initiative will allow us to reach and serve even more underprivileged people. We believe that the next wave of innovation will come from India's villages. In addition to uplifting Anganwadi centers, UPMA plans to digitize them by providing laptops and computers. The sky's the limit when it comes to what we can achieve for underprivileged children, and UPMA is committed to making a lasting impact on their lives. Women's Empowerment and Economic Development in UP Through the Anganwadi program, UPMA also sees an opportunity to work on the economic development of low-income families, women's empowerment, and projects that connect the underprivileged to the global community. Last year, a group of 10 officials from the Smart Village Movement visited UP. During their visit, they met with Governor Anandi Ben Patel, secretaries, and ministers. The Smart Village Movement focuses on four key areas: education, healthcare, household needs, and agriculture, and involves companies from the US and India. This initiative is already running successfully in Meghalaya, and we are working to bring it to UP. With access to underprivileged families through Anganwadi centers, UPMA aims to replicate successful models where villagers, especially women, produce goods that are sold in the US and around the world. We also seek to encourage US companies to invest in UP. UPMA can assist with government resources, connections, and by leveraging existing UP government programs. Supporting Sankara Eye Hospital to Raise $75,000 to $100,000 Over the Next Two Years Sankara Eye Hospital operates in Kanpur and Mathura, and we are excited to announce that the hospital is expanding its Kanpur facility, doubling its capacity to 400 free patient beds and 50 paid beds. Additionally, Sankara is building a new SEF Hospital in Banaras. UPMA has previously helped Sankara raise over $50,000 for various projects, and we are now committed to supporting their upcoming ventures in UP. Promoting Indian Culture and Events in the United States UPMA is dedicated to promoting Indian culture and ensuring that it remains alive in the hearts of our children, communities, and everyone we touch. Our goal is to provide exceptional experiences at all UPMA events. We are organizing the biggest Holi celebration in the Bay Area, presented by the San Jose Sharks, which will take place outside the SAP Center. Additionally, UPMA is once again hosting the best Dandia event in the Bay Area, featuring renowned artists Falguni Pathak and Shri Atul Purohit Ji. With all these initiatives, your support and involvement are crucial. We invite you to become a part of this endeavor and help make it a grand success. Recently, UPMA successfully piloted a program across 100 Anganwadi centers (Day Care Programs) in Uttar Pradesh, benefiting over 3,000 children. UPMA provided toys, books, school uniforms, and sweaters for the kids, and also offered training and gifts to 100 teachers. This initiative was a great success, and as a result, children began returning to the Anganwadi centers. Now, UPMA has been entrusted with supporting 3,008 Anganwadi centers in Agra, which serve 120,000 children. Our plan is to fund toys, books, and clothing for all 120,000 kids, and we are actively working towards this goal. Join hands with us to change the lives of underprivileged children in Uttar Pradesh.
