Mission Statement
Rooted in the long legacy of liberatory education, Chicago Freedom School (CFS) cultivates and amplifies the leadership of Black and Brown youth as the envision and organize for collective healing and liberation.
About This Cause
Founded in 2007, CFS creates new generations of critical thinkers who use their unique experiences and power to create a just world. Inspired by the Mississippi Freedom Schools of the Civil Rights Era, CFS takes an innovative approach to youth activism, leadership development, and movement building. Our programs, resources and trainings invite young people and adult allies to study the work of past movements, deepen their understanding of current social problems, build new coalitions and develop actionable strategies for social change.
