Mission Statement

The primary purpose of the Amateur Radio Safety Foundation is to provide for the formation, training, maintenance, and testing of volunteer licensed amateur radio emergency services and networks using state of the art communications technology. These services and networks to serve the general public by facilitating emergency, health, or welfare communication in times of disaster or other communications emergencies.

About This Cause

ARSFI's main project is the Winlink Global Radio Email®️ system. Winlink is a worldwide radio email service that uses radio pathways where the internet is not present, and is capable of operating completely without the internet--automatically--using smart-network radio relays. Winlink provides its users email with attachments, position reporting, weather and information bulletins, and is well-known for its role in emergency and disaster relief communications. Licensed Winlink operators/stations use both amateur radio and government radio frequencies worldwide. The system is built, operated and administered entirely by licensed volunteers. Support for the system is provided by the Amateur Radio Safety Foundation, Inc., a US 501(c)(3) non-profit, public-benefit entity. Winlink Global Radio Email®️ is a US registered trademark and service mark of the Amateur Radio Safety Foundation, Inc. Daily operational and development costs of the Winlink Global Radio Email®️ system are rising as worldwide internet and data center use become ubiquitous. As a public benefit corporation, ARSFI aims to fund the costs of the project, manage the intellectual property developed for public benefit, and promote and manage the talent contributing technical expertise.
