Mission Statement

ACE is an architecture, construction, and engineering mentorship program for high school students in the Portland metro area.

About This Cause

The ACE Mentor Program is a nationally proven after-school program that inspires high school students to pursue careers in the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) fields. ACE also secures business donations for college scholarships. The ACE Oregon affiliate began in 2006, and first awarded college scholarships in 2007. This Portland-based chapter has grown significantly and now relies on more than 100 volunteer mentors to serve around 150 students a year from around 40 high schools across the metropolitan area. ACE gives students the chance to connect directly with Portland-area professionals in the ACE fields. During 12 mentoring sessions held at employer firms, students work in teams on a building design project, visit construction sites, and practice skills such as communication, networking, and teamwork. At the program finale, they "pitch" their projects to a large audience of educators, family, and ACE professionals. Many high school seniors are also awarded scholarships at the event.
