About This Cause

In the face of pediatric cancer, families experience a whirlwind of emotions and challenges that extend beyond medical treatment. At the Austin Hatcher Foundation, we believe in comprehensive, coordinated care that goes beyond just treating the diagnosed child. We address the multifaceted needs of families affected by pediatric cancer, providing 100% free essential services that include counseling, occupational therapy, neurocognitive testing, art + music therapy, grief support, family programming, and much more. Each day, 47 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, which means more than 17,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed each year. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in American children, resulting in the death of approximately 1,800 kids each year. When a child is diagnosed with pediatric cancer, the whole family is diagnosed… Renowned institutes, researchers, and oncologists around the world are working every day to find cures, medically treat, and improve the medical journey of childhood cancer. At the Austin Hatcher Foundation, we do not treat the cancer, we treat the devastation inflicted as a result of this horrible disease. We provide 100% free therapy, clinical services, and family programming to pediatric cancer patients, survivors, and their families. Through specialized services and support, AHF provides hope, healing, and assistance to families throughout their cancer journey to help them cope in the present and thrive in the future. The Austin Hatcher Foundation’s vision is for all childhood cancer patients, survivors, and the entire family to reach their full human potential through education, balance, health, and well-being. The Foundation’s impact on families is invaluable. Their trials and trauma are real and devastating. They are vulnerable, scared, and numb. A childhood cancer diagnosis impacts the entire family. The Foundation meets every family where they are and all services are tailored to each individual’s needs and provided by the Foundation's clinical team. The Austin Hatcher Foundation addresses the unmet need for mental health and well-being for the entire family at the onset of pediatric cancer. The Foundation’s Education Advancement Center provides evidence-based mental health services and supportive care to children affected by childhood cancer and their entire family. All programs/services are provided at NO cost and insurance is not collected, fulfilling the healthcare disparities for families who cannot afford these invaluable services. 25-37% of families served by the Foundation over the last two years are considered indigent under Federal Poverty Guidelines, which is 200% below the poverty line.
