Mission Statement
The mission of Luna’s House, Inc. is to instill in members of our community (and beyond) compassion and respect for animals through humane education; to provide resources for animal guardians and other citizens interested in animal welfare issues; to foster the innate connection between humans and animals by recognizing, acknowledging, and valuing every animal as a distinct individual; to provide compassionate and appropriate treatment to companion animals in need; to determine the best course of care for each animal and accordingly place each into the situation most conducive to his/her ongoing comfort and well-being.
About This Cause
Luna’s House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of animals and their people. Luna's House takes in, provides proper care for, and adopts out companion animals of most all species--from dogs and cats to small mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, rats, and mice, as well as birds and reptiles. Luna's House believes in rescuing, rehoming, and respecting each animal served via its adoption programs. Luna’s House existed solely as a network of foster homes following its incorporation as a non-profit until the establishment of the Luna’s House Animal Care and Education Center (ACEC). As of March 2022, over 2,900 animals have been placed with their forever families through Luna’s House. Luna's House has averaged over 200 adoptions a year... that’s 200 companion animals, as well as 200 adoptive homes, that have been served annually via direct adoption services. Luna's House also assists animal guardians with education on the proper care of their pets, veterinary references, behavioral modification suggestions, and many other resources that improve the life of both the animals and the humans involved. Luna's House routinely works with dogs and cats; various small mammals including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, and chinchillas; reptiles; and birds. Luna's House accommodates direct surrenders from animal guardians on a case-by-case basis (by appointment), and is always working with local shelters to take in animals who may otherwise not get the second chance at a happy home they so deserve. Luna's House serves the animals and people of our community, primarily Harford and Baltimore counties in Maryland, with outreach in neighboring counties and states. This unique companion animal rescue thrives on working with individuals and with other organizations in the local and regional community to promote widespread humane education and respect for animals.
