Mission Statement
The New York Yacht Club Foundation (the "Foundation") was incorporated on January 5, 2007 under the New York State Not-for-Profit corporation law. During June 2017, the certificate of incorporation was amended. The purposes for which the Foundation was formed are to: (a) maintain, restore and preserve the exterior (and fundamental interior supporting structure) of the historically and architecturally significant buildings and improvements located at 37 West 44th street, New York, NY, designated a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, and 5 Halidon Avenue, Newport, RI, located in the National Park Service's Ocean Drive Historical District and subject to facade and other preservation easements held by the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission and the preservation requirements of the City of Newport's historical and critical area review districts; (b) maintain, restore and preserve the interior structure and finish of the historically and architecturally significant principle rooms of the 37 West 44th Street building, described in part as "richly detailed and finely crafted" in the building's 1982 National Register of Historic Places nomination; (c) support the work and goals of historical preservation in the areas in which these buildings are located; (d) foster awareness of and appreciation for the work of their architects and landscape architects; and (e) support the use of the library in the 37 West 44th Street building by serious scholars and researchers; (f) by means of grants, contractors and other means useful to the corporation and permitted by law.
