Mission Statement
Greens Bayou Coalition works to minimize flood risks, encourage revitalization of native habitats, create recreational opportunities, and foster a broad awareness of the economic potential of the Greens Bayou watershed.
About This Cause
The Greens Bayou Coalition began as a committee advocating for flood mitigation in an area populated with low- to middle-income people who were devastated by the flooding of Hurricane Allison. The mission grew to include adding green spaces, parks, trails, paddling routes; working on clean water initiatives, organizing bayou cleanups and tree-plantings, coordinating educational Kayaking for Kids adventures for underserved youth; and continuing to communicate to with stakeholders about issues within the watershed.
