Mission Statement
Founded in 1981, The Land Conservancy of New Jersey is an accredited, member supported, non-profit land trust dedicated to preserving our beautiful natural lands and vital water resources.
About This Cause
The Land Conservancy works to inspire and empower individuals and communities to take action to preserve land and protect the environment in New Jersey. We have preserved more than 20,000 acres of land and worked in 100 municipalities in 13 counties, benefitting millions of residents throughout the state. Land Preservation is the primary focus of our work -- helping communities preserve New Jersey’s rapidly disappearing open space and farmland. The Land Conservancy has preserved more than 20,000 acres and helped towns and counties secure $231 million in grants for their land preservation projects. We own over 1,300 acres of land in natural area preserves, farms, and through agricultural and conservation easements. Our showcase property is South Branch Preserve in Mt. Olive Township with two active forest restoration sites, an organic farming operation, and a thriving community garden. The Land Conservancy of New Jersey’s Partners for Parks program puts teams of volunteers from corporations and civic groups to work on community service projects in New Jersey’s parks. During the past 18 years, more than 8,700 volunteers have worked on projects in 10 counties impacting over 110 different park sites in New Jersey.
