About This Cause
Holyoke Medical Center (HMC), located in Holyoke Massachusetts, is a 198-bed, non-profit, independent community hospital that’s been serving communities in Western MA for over 125 years. HMC is a nationally-accredited hospital and is the first and only hospital in Western Massachusetts to obtain the prestigious accomplishment of becoming certified in the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. HMC has also received five prestigious national and state awards for excellence and quality of stroke care in Massachusetts. Along with stroke care accolades, our Women’s Center offers the most significant advances available for the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer and has been designated by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. It was the first hospital in Western Massachusetts to successfully complete the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. And, our award-winning Birthing Center received the first Baby-Friendly designation status in the region. Our Weight Management Program is one of 12 locations selected nationally to be involved in the FDA trial of the Elipse Balloon. And, we’ve been informed that HMC earned an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group for its efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in reducing errors, injuries, accidents, and infections with patients in their care. Earning an ‘A’ puts Holyoke Medical Center among the top third of all 2,600 participating hospitals across the country. Holyoke Medical Center is a member of Valley Health Systems, Inc. which also includes the affiliates Holyoke Medical Group, Holyoke Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Life Care, and River Valley Counseling Center. Holyoke Medical Center has always remained dedicated to progress which translates to the immense impact our many donors have made.
