Mission Statement
The mission of the Community Survival Center is to relieve hunger in our community by providing emergency food to individuals and families in times of need.
About This Cause
The Community Survival Center has been providing emergency food assistance to those in need since 1983. The Emergency Food Pantry provides bagged groceries, up to six times a year, to low-income households from Ludlow, Wilbraham, and Hampden, as well as the Indian Orchard, and Sixteen Acres neighborhoods of Springfield. Senior clients may reside anywhere in Hampden County and visit the Pantry each month. Families enrolled in the Preschool Program also visit the Pantry every month to collect 20 breakfast, lunch, and snack items for their children who are not yet enrolled in school. The Center is located at 240 Main Street, in Indian Orchard. The Pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 to 4:00. Our Thrift Shop offers new and gently used clothing and accessories to everyone and uses the proceeds to support our Pantry. The Thrift Shop is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 to 3:00. Starting in May, we will also be open on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 to 3:00. We accept donations for our Thrift Shop Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 4:30. We take clothing, jewelry, accessories like belts, shoes, and ties. We also take dishes, pots and pans, sheets, towels and more.
