Mission Statement
Habitat Newark builds affordable housing for families with low to moderate incomes. Our construction activities include new construction, gut rehabs, cosmetic rehabs and brush in kindness. We also run a neighborhood revitalization program.
About This Cause
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark, Inc. (HFHGN) is a 501(c)(3) ecumenical, faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated dedicated to producing income-affordable homes in partnership with hard-working, low-income families in Essex County, founded in 1986. We build homes with hardworking partner families who supply up to 400 hours of “sweat equity” in the construction of their own home, as well as those of their neighboring partner families. . HFHGN finances the home purchase with no interest mortgages. We are proud that over 80 families have benefited from homes built with generous donations from our sponsors and supporters and by the efforts of thousands of volunteers.
