Mission Statement
Arm In Arm (formerly The Crisis Ministry) provides practical, caring programs that address hunger prevention, homelessness prevention and workforce training. We operate two bricks and mortar food pantries in Mercer County, one at 48 Hudson St, Trenton and one at 61 Nassau St., Princeton, as well as a mobile pantry our of our Hamilton distribution hub that delivers food each week to different areas of need in the community. Arm In Arm helps to stabilize critical housing situations through emergency financial assistance and housing stability case management. Our Workforce Development program provides on-site work training, skill development and mentoring that educates and prepares men and women for entry or re-entry into the workforce. We also educate the wider Princeton-Trenton community about issues that affect low-income people.
About This Cause
Arm in Arm was founded in 1980 as the Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton by community leaders in response to the rise in housing instability and food insecurity. We continue to address the immediate needs of food and housing while promoting longer term stability through practical, individualized support. We operate on the principle that housing and food security are the necessary first steps to more lasting self-sufficiency for the people who turn to us. For more than three decades, our professional staff members and experienced volunteers have provided Homelessness Prevention and Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Education services. In the past ten years, we have added our Housing Stability Shallow Subsidy and Case Management and Workforce Development, including Driver’s License Restoration, to help families achieve long-term financial stability. Each year, more than 300 Mercer County households receive assistance through our Homelessness Prevention program and Case Management program, and 5,000 households in Hunger Prevention through our food and mobile pantries. In September 2016, we changed our name to Arm in Arm to better reflect our positive partnership with our community and the spirit of collaboration that guides our daily work.
