About This Cause
Partners in Learning is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing young children with autism spectrum disorders with the highest quality Applied Behavior Analysis program in the least restrictive natural setting. Clinical research demonstrates that our students require individualized programming to meet their unique needs. This includes learning in all environments, school, home, and community. Often children with learning disabilities are excluded from attending typical learning environments or are unsupported and considered to be unsuccessful. We believe that with the proper supports children with autism can learn and thrive in all environments. Recognizing that Autism affects the entire family, we also offer sibling support groups and parent training lecture series, covering topics such as behavior management, sleeping, feeding, siblings, play, occupational therapy, speech, etc. In addition we conduct basic and advanced trainings and workshops for schools throughout the state. The Partners in Learning Program model includes the delivery of systematic, intensive intervention across three environments: the home setting, a typical preschool/inclusive groups and the community. The program is individualized and the amount of time in each setting is determined according to each child’s need. The year-round program actively engages children for 30-40 hours weekly. The goal of the program is to actively support each child to achieve his or her potential across all learning environments. Partners in Learning, Inc. (PIL), a non-profit organization formed to further assist young children and their families, was founded in 1999 under the leadership and vision of Dr. Kathleen McCabe-Odri, BCBA-D. PIL’s innovative services are provided in both home and non-segregated classrooms. This type of programming is a departure from traditional or conventional programs, which service children only in their schools. PIL understands the critical need to provide seamless services from school to the home environment. As a 501C3, non-profit organization, Partners in Learning holds a number of fundraisers to offset tuition, as well as to enhance curriculum. PIL services are delivered at four locations, Country Acres Private Preschool in Williamstown, NJ, Cherrywood Academy and Private Preschool, located in Gloucester Twp, NJ, PIL Northfield in Northfield, NJ, and The Therapeutic Learning Center in Turnersville, NJ. Our three school locations offer full or half-day Nursery and Pre-K programs – Cherrywood also offers a full or half-day Kindergarten class, as well as child care services before and after school. The three schools operate as full time inclusion programs. In addition, PIL provides outreach services to students in their home school districts. To make the most of precious early learning opportunities, at The Therapeutic Learning Center houses children receive early, intensive intervention, research-based treatment and on-going assessments for developmental milestones. All areas of development including language, play, interaction skills, gross motor and feeding are addressed.
