Mission Statement
Established in 1865, Country Day School of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls, grades K – 12 located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The goals of Sacred Heart’s education have remained the same for over 140 years: to produce self-confident women, to provide a challenging intellectual environment, to develop a love of God, and to create a desire to help others. A Sacred Heart education includes AP courses, STEM and integrated humanities curricula, community service and network exchange. Sacred Heart students benefit from a 7:1 student-teacher ratio while enjoying an international campus of 24 Sacred Heart schools in the United States and Canada and over 140 schools worldwide. In recent years, Middle and Upper School students have studied at Sacred Heart schools in San Francisco, Vienna, Austria and Melbourne, Australia, as well as hosting students from those schools.

HISTORY Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr is a K-12, Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls. Founded in 1865 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart and lay owned and governed since 1969, the school is a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools in the United States and Canada. The 24 schools that comprise the Network are all committed to the Goals and Criteria that define education today in the tradition of excellence as envisioned by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat when she founded the first Sacred Heart school. Sacred Heart is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. PHILOSOPHY Sacred Heart Academy remains faithful to the goals of Sacred Heart education: to produce self-confident women, to provide a challenging intellectual education, to develop a love of God, and to create a desire to help others. A holistic approach to learning seeks to respond to the academic, aesthetic, athletic, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of each girl with a curriculum well grounded in basic and special courses. Sacred Heart continues to root its academic program in the liberal arts taught in contemporary ways. It continues to empower girls to develop their potential as scholars and leaders. Sacred Heart is a Catholic school with a tradition of ecumenism, welcoming the enrichment that students, faculty, and parents of all faiths offer. By its religious education program, the school seeks to foster open-mindedness and reverence for differences.
