Mission Statement
The mission of the Metropolitan Wind Symphony (MetWinds) is to contribute positively to the musical education and enrichment of the community through public performance of traditional and contemporary wind music, serve as a channel for the commission and presentation of new musical works, and provide an enjoyable, challenging, inclusive, and educational musical experience for the members.
About This Cause
New England’s premier concert band, MetWinds is comprised of over 70 talented woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists who audition for membership. We present formal performances of traditional and contemporary wind band literature as well as more informal pops concerts throughout the Metropolitan area. Part of the Boston musical community since 1971, MetWinds makes a significant contribution to the rich cultural life of this region by commissioning new works, presenting high quality concerts to its audiences and providing its members with opportunities for musical growth.
