About This Cause
Since 1974, the Boys & Girls Club of Easton has been at the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. The Club has achieved National and Local recognition for many of its programs, including the 2014 Easton Area School District’s George Wolf Public Education Award for dedicated service to and advocacy for the ideals of public education in the Easton area community. The Club has actively sought to enrich the lives of girls and boys whom other youth serving agencies have had difficulty reaching. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s disadvantaged youngsters have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and help shape their futures. The core characteristics which set the Boys & Girls Club apart from other youth-serving organizations include: The Club is for boys and girls, ages 5 – 18 years, of all races, religions, and cultures; The Club has full-time professional leadership, supplemented by part-time workers, and volunteers, cleared through the State’s Child Abuse and Criminal Record Checks; Activities are centered in and around the Club buildings, conducted in the warm, friendly, secure facilities which were especially set-up for Club programs; No proof of good character is required for membership. The Club helps guide youth who may be in danger of acquiring, or already acquired, unacceptable habits and attitudes; The Club has a diversified program of activities that recognizes and responds to the collective and individual needs of the community’s youth; The Club is guidance oriented, and emphasizes values inherent in the relationships between young people, their peers, and adult leaders. Youth are guided towards making appropriate and satisfying choices. The Club actively encourages family members to take part in club programs, educational experiences, and in the development of their children. The Club is part of a nationwide affiliation of local, autonomous organizations, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, working to help youth of all backgrounds, with special concern for those from disadvantaged circumstances, develop the qualities needed to become healthy citizens, and responsible leaders. Vision and Mission Statement The Mission: The Boys and Girls Club of Easton will enable all young people, especially those who need us most, and their families, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
