About This Cause
Delta Community Supports, Inc. (“Delta”) is an award winning non-profit corporation serving residents of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Since 1977, Delta has provided a wide range of community-based services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Delta began its evolution as an organization by helping individuals with intellectual disabilities leave institutional care and meet the challenges of living in the mainstream of the community as independent, fully participating members. The agency has maintained its financial position throughout its history, growing from a $75,000 project to an organization with a budget exceeding $35,000,000 across two states. In 2022, despite the ongoing effects of the COVID19 pandemic, Delta was able to: 1) Provide residential supports to help 197 adults with disabilities live more independently, 2) Provide 85 job and internship placements for people with disabilities, 3) Coordinate respite care for 144 people with disabilities, and 4) Deliver organized recreational, vocational, and educational activities to 47 adults with disabilities through our Community Center. Delta manages its programs using its Continuous Quality Improvement framework, which drives the agency’s record of excellence in delivering services. The Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence is our national model for organizational excellence. Included in the criteria are the requirements for leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, performance measurement and analysis, process focus and key outcomes. The foundation of the Baldrige is continuous improvement. Delta has received the MidAtlantic Alliance for Performance Excellence Award as well as the Philadelphia DHS Children’s Crusader Award in recognition of outstanding work with families in the community. Delta also functions as the fiscal sponsor for Delta Family Services LLC. Delta Family Services has grown significantly since its early configuration and currently serves hundreds of children through General Foster Care, Kinship Foster Care, Medical Foster Care, Treatment Foster Care, Supervised Independent Living Programs, and Youth Development programs -- while also providing a full range of adoption services to our children and those from outside agencies. In 2014 when Family Services added the implementation of Evidence Based programming to its menu, Delta became the first authorized provider of Teen Outreach Program (TOP®) services in the state of Pennsylvania. In Philadelphia County, Delta Family Services is contracted to provide the county’s largest Supervised Independent Living (SIL) program for older youth in care. Family Services was approved as one of only four PA agencies in 2020 by the PA Department of Human Services to provide SIL services in specialized settings for older youth. In 2022, Family Services supported over 400 children in foster care, provided housing and support to 90 youth leaving foster care, provided life skills education to 101 high school students, and provided adoption preparation services to 250 children. Our programs have been awarded significant funding from the Pew Charitable Trusts, BNY Mellon, and Phillies Charities and we hold significant contracts with the PA Department of Health, the Philadelphia Department of Human Services, Montgomery County, Bucks County and Delaware County. We also receive charitable gifts from Zoom Info, the Blue Bell Rotary Club, and Johnson and Johnson which provide a range of resources that support our programs.
