Mission Statement

Founded in 1985, Bebashi, is the second-oldest AIDS service organization in the Philadelphia region and was the first organization in the United States to address the HIV epidemic in urban communities of color.

About This Cause

Bebashi-Transition to Hope is a multi purpose non profit organization dedicated to addressing the social determinants of health that disproportionately impact economically challenged people of color in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Our mission is: “Empower people to enhance the quality of their health and overall well-being by providing access to culturally sensitive high quality healthcare, HIV/AIDS services, health education, and social services.” Bebashi provides a full continuum of care that reaches 20,000 people annually. Our services include: : • Culturally sensitive and competent community-based HIV/STI outreach and education; • HIV, STI, Hepatitis C and pregnancy counseling and testing services; • Health education and risk reduction workshops for high risk minority populations including substance abusers, MSM, young minority women and individuals with a history of sexually transmitted infections and HIV+ individuals; • Treatment, Referral, Education, Advocacy and Discharge Planning to assist HIV+ individuals who have been recently released from state correctional institutions; • Specialized HIV Medical Case Management and support groups; • Early intervention HIV services targeting high risk minority women ; • An emergency food cupboard for any low-income individual in need; • Breast cancer education and referrals for diagnostic services; • Prevention Navigation Services
