About This Cause
Hoffman Homes is a nonprofit organization that provides both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health treatment, educational services, and other county-funded residential programs to youth, young adults, and their families from across Pennsylvania. Founded in 1910 as an orphanage, Hoffman Homes has remained an active, growing organization through our ability to adapt and change with the needs of children in crisis. In 1960 we shifted our focus to court-adjudicated children, and in 1990 repositioned ourselves to treating children with severe mental health diagnoses and behavioral concerns. Today we offer Psychiatric Residential Treatment, Transitional Living, Therapeutic Shelter, Outpatient Therapy, and an onsite private academic school serving grades 1-12 in Regular and Special Education (emotional support). Our comprehensive, trauma-informed programs help youth and young adults, ages 7-21, receive essential services, treatment, and support to successfully return to their home communities and build bright futures. We are committed to providing services that are cost effective and responsive to the unique needs of each youth, always in close cooperation with the parents/guardians, referring agencies, managed care organizations, school systems, and funding sources. Clinical Services - Therapists deliver a trauma-informed treatment approach via Individual, Group, and Family Therapies, and Creative Therapies (Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Equine-Assisted Therapy). Medical Services – Professional staff of RNs, LPNs, Somatic Physician, Psychiatrists, and other contracted medical professionals providing: 24-hour nursing coverage, ongoing physical, psychiatric, and dental care, assessments, diagnosis, planning, treatment, and evaluations. Educational Services - Hoffman Academy (HA) is a licensed, private academic school, located on the campus of Hoffman Homes for Youth, meeting the needs of students grades 1-12 requiring regular education and special education services for emotional support. HA serves grades 1-12, providing 1:1 technology, a Mindfulness Room, small class sizes, social skills education, transition planning, and staff trained in safe crisis management. Residential Services - Care, supervision, and monitoring of children 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Activities include enjoying the many amenities on campus, including fishing pond, soccer field, softball field, playgrounds, basketball court, volleyball court, indoor gymnasium, cardio exercise room, and recreational room, as well as outings to surrounding communities. Hoffman Homes for Youth is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, licensed by the Office of Children, Youth and Families (OCYF), and approved by the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS), the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), and by the Department of Health (DOH). Hoffman Academy is licensed by the PA Department of Education (PDE) to operate a Private Academic School (PAS) 1-12 for Special Education (emotional support) and Regular Education. .
