Mission Statement
The mission of the Aqua String Band is to promote civic pride and provide a focus for community activity by the organization of a string band. The organization fosters and encourages the art of playing instruments which are associated with string bands and string band music and will continue to support the Mummers' parade in Philadelphia as has been heretofore the custom since being established in 1920. The organization shall also perform in various community parades and concerts to help continue with cultural and local traditions and events. The organization shall travel to cities outside of their surrounding clubhouse to help promote string bands, Mummers, and Philadelphia.
About This Cause
The Aqua String Band generates awareness and fosters preservation of the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Tradition. As a social and community-based art form, it is critical to ensure future viability by constantly maintaining awareness, and gaining interest of the public. Aqua provides performers to communities, students, and organizations for the purpose of introducing, sharing, and expanding on the history and cultural impact of String Bands and the musical heritage of the early United States of America and the City of Philadelphia.
