Mission Statement

Quest Therapeutic Services provides exceptional pediatric therapy services to enhance the lives of children with disabilities in the Delaware Valley.

About This Cause

Quest provides the following comprehensive range of pediatric services: Physical & Occupational Therapy: Quest provides weekly physical and occupational therapy sessions to children with special needs. Like many organizations, Quest faced significant challenges as we tried to live out our mission with the outbreak of Covid and subsequent state shutdown in March 2020. In late 2019/early 2020, Quest expanded our services to include traditional therapies, in addition to hippotherapy, and the timing of this change could not have been more perfect. With therapists trained in diverse treatment modalities and a strategic plan that stretched our programming beyond just horses, Quest was able to rapidly pivot in March, offering a robust teletherapy program, in which most of our clients participated. In July of 2020, we gradually reintegrated in-person services for those who were comfortable and today, almost 100% of our clients are receiving services in-person. Many of Quest's clients are treated using hippotherapy, which refers to how occupational & physical therapists use evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning in the purposeful manipulation of equine movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes. Clients that have opted to continue teletherapy participate in play-based sessions that also promote functional outcomes. At Quest, we have embraced the concept of ‘therapy options for every child,' offering flexibility and diversity without compromising quality of care specific purpose. This change will allow Quest to continue to grow and offer additional services, regardless of horse availability. School Readiness: This is a ground-breaking new program at Quest that provides children with special needs with the necessary tools for success in school. The development of school readiness skills allows schoolteachers to expand and further develop a child’s skills in the specific areas of social interaction, play, language, emotional development, physical skills, literacy and fine motor skills. Without these basic skills already established upon entry to school, children can very quickly find themselves playing ‘catch-up’ compared to their peers that are advancing more quickly. Students that begin school with the foundational skills in place advance quickly as opposed to those that start school only to then begin the slow process of developing school readiness. Early Intervention Services: Through a contract with Chester County Mental Health/Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Quest’s highly trained and experienced pediatric therapists and special instructors go to the child’s home to provide support to families with children with special needs from birth to three years old. Early Intervention service provision is a growing and critically important field. Our experienced and multidisciplinary therapy staff is meeting the growing needs of families of young children in Chester County. Parental Consultation & Coaching: Quest provides expert advice and strategies from our professional staff—from sleep issues to sibling rivalry to learning challenges and more. Parental consultation or coaching sessions may take place just once or several times over the course of a few months. At the end of each session, parents (or legal guardians) will have useful information and strategies that are immediately helpful in addressing their concerns. We offer them a roadmap so they can choose the path that is right for them and their family. Social Skills Groups: This group is for children who need to enrich their social intelligence and enhance social interactions with others. Sessions build upon already established social skills and develop new ones such as playing cooperatively, initiating and sustaining friendships, working in groups, reading facial expressions, identifying emotions, and more. We address these skills through various activities such as preparing a simple recipe, structured gross motor play and art activities. Classes are facilitated by a licensed occupational therapist. Therapy Camp: Quest Camp is an innovative one-week summer day camp for children with special needs and developmental delays who are 3 to 12 years of age. Our highly trained multidisciplinary camp team includes an occupational therapist and a physical therapist with numerous years of camp experience who oversee programming, staff and volunteers. Kids who attend camp have so much fun that they never even realize that they’re working. Community Day: Each month, Quest offers a special morning led by a community helper that is open to children of all abilities. Events have including cooking, dance, art, music and more. Beats & Bops: Each Tuesday morning, kiddos are invited to dance, sing, play instruments and express themselves through music therapy. We had no idea this would be such a hit and we just added a second time to accommodate everyone that wanted to participate. There is an increasing need for pediatric therapy services, such as we provide, to meet the needs of children with special needs. From hippotherapy to camp to social skills and school readiness, Quest is proud to provide a full menu of services to help children with special needs reach their full potential. It is our privilege to watch these children take their first steps, learn to buckle a seat belt in the car, calm themselves in a situation that typically causes anxiety and thrive within their families and communities.
