Mission Statement
The Geneseo Foundation supports a wide variety of merit scholarships to incoming freshmen and undergraduates. These scholarships are only available to full-time students of SUNY Geneseo and are funded by annual and endowed contributions from alumni, emeriti, faculty, staff, students, businesses and corporations.
About This Cause
The Geneseo Foundation serves as the fundraising arm for SUNY Geneseo. Established in 1971 as a non-profit and tax-exempt organization, the Foundation's primary mission is to help preserve and enhance excellence in undergraduate education by providing private support for programs and activities that strengthen the College and build an endowment for the future. The Foundation accepts and administers private gifts from friends, alumni, corporations, and other sources to fund programs that greatly benefit students and faculty at the College for which state support is not available, including: • Merit Scholarships for outstanding students • Faculty Grants to fund research, professional travel, and creative projects • Supported Professorships and Summer Fellowships for faculty • Undergraduate Research Grants to give students opportunities to work closely with faculty on special projects • Grants to recipients of SUNY Excellence Awards and President's Awards • The annual Wadsworth Lecture Series • The Roemer Arboretum and campus beautification projects • The Small Business Development Center to assist area businesses The Foundation's Board of Directors includes professional, business, and community leaders who volunteer time, talent, and support to assist SUNY Geneseo in fulfilling its mission as an outstanding public liberal arts college. The College President is an ex-officio member of the Board and the Vice-President for College Advancement serves as Executive Director of the Foundation.
