Mission Statement
Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) HCZ is helping to ensure the success of over 12,000 youth and break the cycle of generational poverty in a 97-block Zone in Central Harlem through our innovative and effective programs.
About This Cause
HCZ does “whatever it takes” to make sure that each and every one of the 12,000 youth in our 97-block Zone goes to college, graduates with a degree, and grows up to lead a healthy, successful, and meaningful life. Through our cradle-through-college pipeline of best-practice programs, we are providing exceptional education, enrichment, and social services to over 24,000 children and adults in Central Harlem and working to rebuild the very fabric of community life. Our holistic approach, unprecedented scale, and proven results have made HCZ a model for struggling communities around the country and the world, as well as a leader in education, community development, and the fight against poverty.
