Mission Statement

Improve the health and well-being of our guests through nutritious food and compassion.

About This Cause

The Interchange Food Pantry, now with three locations, is a city-wide food pantry that responds to the critical need to improve the health of Milwaukee’s disadvantaged and vulnerable groups. Recognizing that healthy food is a human right, we provide human dignity and justice to those without access to healthy foods. We are a “choice” pantry, known for our healthy foods, such as fresh and frozen produce, frozen meats, grains, and dairy items. The majority of our food comes from Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin or is purchased from wholesale produce companies. We also receive food donations from food drives, individuals, and retail outlets such as grocery stores and bakeries. The Pantry abides by the guidelines of the USDA and operates under the Wisconsin Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). Pantry operations are administered by a Board of Directors and managed by a Pantry Director. We also have several part-time staff members assisting in the operation of the Pantry. The Pantry also has the invaluable assistance of nearly 100 regular volunteers. Our nearly all-volunteer model means that there are many ways that volunteers can apply their skills to the Pantry’s mission.
