Mission Statement

Dedicated to the preservation, restoration and presentation of theatre pipe organs from the 1920s and ’30s.

About This Cause

The primary objective of the Central Indiana Chapter and the international organization—the American Theatre Organ Society—is the preservation, restoration and presentation of the surviving theatre pipe organs from the 1920s and ’30s. This effort also promotes the use, understanding and enjoyment of these unique instruments by today’s generation as well as future generations. This objective translates into a number of international and local activities that are rewarding both culturally and educationally. Membership is open to all people who enjoy listening to or creating this wonderful music. There are activities for all interest levels, including organ building and restoration enthusiasts, performers and students of theatre pipe organ. The Central Indiana Chapter is the largest ATOS chapter with over 250 members. CICATOS sponsors an annual concert series, comprised of performances by outstanding national and international artists. A chapter newsletter, CIPHERS, is published monthly. Monthly socials are held in various organ-equipped locations in central Indiana. These gatherings consist of a short business session, a concert by a member or a visiting artist, “open console” where members and guests are welcome to play the organ, plenty of refreshments and opportunity to socialize.
