Mission Statement

With compassion and respect, St. Pete Free Clinic changes lives by providing health care, nutritious food, recovery housing, and education for our neighbors in need.

About This Cause

Founded in 1970, the mission of St. Petersburg Free Clinic has been helping individuals with the basic needs of food, shelter, and healthcare. St. Petersburg Free Clinic began as a single walk-in medical facility that provided basic health care services to those without health insurance and those without the means to provide adequate health care for themselves and their families. In subsequent years, as additional needs of the community have been identified, we have expanded our services, becoming a multi-service, multi-site agency. We address the need for food, shelter and health care through our eight essential programs: Health Center, Dental Clinic, Food Bank, We Help Services, Beacon House (homeless men’s shelter), Community Kitchen, Women’s Residence (homeless shelter for women), and Family Residence (homeless family shelter). Primary beneficiaries of the Free Clinic’s programs are families and individuals in Pinellas County – specifically a combination of low income and working-poor who fall through the cracks of existing systems and services. St. Petersburg Free Clinic envisions a community where all of its members can meet life’s basic needs of food, shelter and access to health care. Until that is the condition for everyone, St. Petersburg Free Clinic will help those who do not qualify for other assistance programs to meet their basic needs to the extent the community helps St. Petersburg Free Clinic.
