Mission Statement

FPAWS is committed to assuring that foster, adoptive, birth and kinship parents get the training and support they need to care for the children that are placed in their homes.

About This Cause

FPAWS has been looking out for the needs of foster parents since 1976. Over the last 30 years we have added adoptive and relative caregivers to our team. Most recently we have added birth parents to our Board. FPAWS by Washington State Law provides caregivers a voice at the table with the Department of Children Youth and Families to problem solve both regionally and statewide. FPAWS provides one day training conferences for caregivers and an annual weekend family friendly conference at Great Wolf Lodge which includes an awards banquet that recognizes social workers and agencies that exemplify outstanding support for caregivers and the children in their home. Our volunteer board members are veteran foster, adoptive and relative providers. Many are former foster children that now foster. We also have a board position for a youth in care. We have developed a Family Time Visitation service to help kids get time with the parents and siblings.
