About This Cause

BrightFocus Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1973, seeks to save mind and sight by funding groundbreaking research worldwide and by promoting better health through education. We focus our efforts on research and public education for three incurable diseases affecting mind and sight: Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. You may designate your donation to one of our three programs in the "Comment" section: Alzheimer's Disease Research, Macular Degeneration Research, or National Glaucoma Research. BrightFocus has a proven track record of supporting the most advanced, early-stage research for a better understanding of the disease, treatment options and ultimately, finding a cure. We are honored to have supported the early research of two Nobel Prize winners: Dr. Stanley Prusiner and Dr. Paul Greengard, whose work has been instrumental to our current understanding of Alzheimer’s disease. Along with funding cutting-edge research, we also offer free educational materials to patients and families affected by the three diseases. BrightFocus provides news and research results to millions of people each year through multiple media formats and live expert-led educational events.
