Mission Statement
Sunnyside Neighborhood Association (SNA) was established in 1974 to empower it residents to better their San Francisco neighborhood. This long-lived not-for-profit, member-supported association is a valuable resource that works to bring its residents together to preserve, enhance, and empower the livability of Sunnyside.
About This Cause
The Sunnyside Neighborhood Association is among the largest and most active non-profit organizations within the City and County of San Francisco. Our association sponsors a number of community meetings and activities that provide the means to join together as a community, to socialize, to network, to provide mutual support, and to provide a forum for discussion and debate of local and citywide issues. Among the events we sponsor include rehabilitation of the Detroit Steps, community support for the COVID-19 pandemic, and neighborhood activities such as music concerts, theatrical events, senior exercise classes, an annual Halloween party with children Jack o’ Lantern carving event and a garage sale, which directly benefit the area. Our priorities include: • Building relationships and improving communication among neighbors; • Establishing a unified voice for issues affecting Sunnyside; • Keeping members informed of news that affects the neighborhood through our website, periodic mailings, newsletters and emails; • Maintaining neighborhood standards and help residents stay informed on city policies and procedures; • Hosting quarterly meetings open to all, with SF City Hall, Police, City College, political office candidates and other local groups represented; • Sponsoring active committees to serve the community on issues including city planning, neighborhood greening and public safety. • Seeking to increase awareness of decisions that impact the neighborhood.
