Mission Statement
The mission of Family Resources is to prevent and treat child abuse by strengthening families and neighborhoods. Everything we do is focused on creating a better future for our children. We provide families and neighborhoods the tools and skills they need to keep children safe, prevent abuse, manage conflict, and support the changing needs of families. Envisioning and executing a better future or children requires a compassionate, holistic approach to strengthening families. Our resources, tools, and programs focus on prevention, intervention, and treatment. Here, we are able to provide the right services, at the right time, for the families we serve.
About This Cause
Family Resources serves over 3,500 children and families each year and has a physical presence in 21 locations in the Greater Pittsburgh area. Our three intrinsic levels of service- prevention, targeted intervention, and treatment- enables us to provide services that build healthy and strong communities where children are safe and families can heal and grow. With a keen focus on understanding and supporting families, before, during, and after critical times of need, we develop connected individualized plans for better future use and the elimination of abuse. Through our prevention programs including: our Beverly Jewel Wall Lovelace (BJWL) Out of School Time Program, One Kind Word, The Parenting Warmline, and The Family Support Center, we enable families and communities to set positive paths and build healthy relationships from the start. Through our targeted intervention services including: The High Fidelity Wrap Around, First Steps, Reach out to Families and Parent and Teen Conflict programs, First Steps, and Family Unification Services, we support children, adults and families currently experiencing conflict. Here, we are able to teach crucial skills and tools when they are needed most. Through our treatment programs including: The Therapeutic Parents and Children's Center, Outpatient Psychotherapy, Family-Focused Solution-Based Services, Family- Based Mental Health Services, and The Family Retreat Center, we provide education and coping strategies for children and families who have experiences trauma.
