Mission Statement
The mission of the CCAC Educational Foundation is to support the students and priorities of the Community College of Allegheny County by raising funds, engaging with alumni, stewarding our resources, and supporting the college’s capacity to innovate.
About This Cause
The CCAC Educational Foundation was established in 1979 to support the mission of CCAC in alignment with the goals of the president and college Board of Trustees. The Foundation supports CCAC by creating awareness, advocating on behalf of the institution and raising, managing and distributing funds in accordance with initiatives established by the Foundation’s Board of Directors. As CCAC’s private fundraising arm, the Foundation relies on an annual calendar of events as well as a full agenda of college support requests to fund a variety of programs and scholarships. Donors to CCAC recognize the importance of education in bettering the lives of individuals, families and the region. With this support, CCAC continues to develop up to date workforce training opportunities and new innovative academic programming. CCAC currently serves more than 26,000 credit students through nearly 160 degree, certificate, diploma and transfer programs and also offers access to noncredit and workforce development courses to thousands of students. With the CCAC Educational Foundation’s continued support, the college’s transformational workforce development initiative is well underway. This includes the new Workforce Training Center on the Allegheny Campus, which will provide an infinitely adaptable environment for training in a broad array of career paths in high-demand and emerging fields such as cybersecurity, information technology, autonomous technology, process technology, machine learning, additive and advanced manufacturing, robotics, mechatronics, CNC machining and culinary arts. Additionally, spaces for the EMT, CNA, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), Paramedic and the Creative Arts programs, while also remaining flexible in order to adapt to emerging trends in employer needs. In recent months, modifications were made to the original design of the center so that its architecture will complement the historic character of the campus and the surrounding neighborhood. These changes have been embraced and approved by the North Side community, allowing the college to move forward in its planning. The college is also working to ensure that what occurs inside our facilities – on all campuses - involves the most advanced instructional practice so that students learn, and learn well. As part of this workforce initiative, new staff and endowed faculty have been brought onboard to focus on issues such as K-12 engagement, faculty professional development, enhanced curriculum, industry partnerships, and interdisciplinary learning well before the facility opens. As the planning and design for this project progress, the CCAC Educational Foundation has been working closely with college leadership to share the plans with and generate interest from the region’s corporations, philanthropic foundations, industrial entities and community service organizations. All have demonstrated excitement and enthusiasm for the new center and for CCAC’s workforce initiatives as a whole, which will have a far reaching impact on the region’s workforce development needs.
