Mission Statement
EmergyCare's mission is to save lives and positively impact the health, well-being, and safety of the communities we serve.
About This Cause
EmergyCare is one of the largest non-profit ambulance services in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, covering more than 2,100 square miles and protecting approximately 300,000 lives. EmergyCare has been recognized for its excellence by the PA Emergency Health Service Council (PEHSC), the American Ambulance Association (AAA), the PA Ambulance Association, and the American Heart Association. These accolades are a testament to EmergyCare’s commitment to providing the highest quality of care to the constituents of Northwestern Pennsylvania. The service lines that EmergyCare provides include Emergency and Non-Emergency medical transportation at the Basic / Advanced / Critical Care Life Support levels, inter-agency paramedic intercept response, paratransit (wheelchair) / medical taxi transport solutions, tactical paramedic / SWAT Team integration, and community outreach which includes educational safety programs. The operations team consists of approximately 230 wheelchair transporters, EMTs, PHRNs, and Paramedics, and a fleet of 70 vehicles including 33 ambulances stationed in Erie, Titusville, Warren, Greenville, and Kane, PA. Organization-wide, EmergyCare runs approximately 65,000 transports annually. EmergyCare’s diversified service lines integrate with local and state healthcare organizations to play a pivotal role in providing the best in prehospital-based medicine. EmergyCare’s Critical Care Transport Team brings the hospital ICU to the bedside of the patient, allowing for the best possible clinical outcomes. EmergyCare’s Tactical Medic Team integrates with local law enforcement agencies to provide critical medical coverage in high-risk law enforcement situations. EmergyCare’s Tactical Medic team supports Erie City Police, Erie County Sheriff’s Department, PA State Police, and the Attorney General’s office. EmergyCare has been a leader in EMS education and training since 1986 when it was recognized by the PA Department of Health as an EMS Training Institute. EmergyCare’s Advanced Life Support (ALS) training program was first established in 1992 and was focused on advancing EMS providers to the paramedic certification level. In addition to training paramedics, the current ALS training program also includes training EMS providers to the Advanced EMT level. The ALS training program is a training consortium accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). The training consortium consists of a unique partnership between EmergyCare, UPMC, and the Center for Emergency Medicine. This training consortium brings together a multitude of organizational resources to offer high-quality training that paves the way for students to test and become certified as a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) or Nationally Registered Advanced EMT (AEMT). The EmergyCare Training and Education department educates 4,360 unique students annually and provides over 1564 hours of professional education. As an independent nonprofit organization, donations are heavily relied on to provide life-saving emergency care when it matters the most. EmergyCare funds operational needs (including life-saving equipment, vehicles, medical supplies, etc.) through an annual membership campaign, fee-for-service revenue, community donations, special event fundraising, and grants.
