Mission Statement

We Make Life Better For Kids

About This Cause

Cray's current programs include Crossroads after school program, Challenges Alternative Education, Truancy Prevention, Foster Care, Family Reintegration and Supervised Parent Visitation, Juvenile Justice Community Service, Homebuilders, The Independent Living Program, Project Search, and Homemaker Services. These services work with approximately 500 children and their families each year. Cray also has two mentoring programs- 1-to-1 Mentoring, which pairs at-risk youth in our community with a carefully screened volunteer mentor, and Compeer Youth Mentoring, which pairs youth who have a mental health diagnosis with a mentor to help them reach their mental health treatment goals. Cray also operates The Confluence Coffee Shop, a social enterprise that provides a safe and welcoming gathering place in the city of New Castle. We are very proud of the role our agency took in making life better for kids through the the COVID-19 crisis. Our state of Pennsylvania was under a stay at home order from March until June. Although kids could not attend our programs in person, every program worked to stay connected to families. We provided virtual and phone services when possible. Our staff helped families by providing emergency food distribution, linkage to economic assistance, and assistance with obtaining technology to meet online school requirements. As we gear up for this coming school year, we know that not much is certain. However, we feel confident that Cray will continue to be an important resource for kids and families in our county.
